Villa Magana

Villa Magana is a residence of exquisite beauty, located at Kalami, at the north eastern area of Corfu . A small road, through the olive groves, passes by the White House, where Lawrence Durrell lived and wrote his famous novel “Prospero's cell” and leads to the villa itself.

The beautiful two storey, traditional house radiates calmness and it has a nostalgic aura of eternal, luscious summers. The garden surrounding the villa is a small green paradise and immediately welcomes the guests. A few stone steps lead to the house and on the right hand side there is a kiosk with a pergola overlooking the big swimming pool which is surrounded with luscious green grass.

In the garden there is also a spacious barbeque and dinning area. An old olive press stone, remnant of older times, attracts the attention, a few meters further up. The house respects perfectly the old Corfiot architecture and the arched entrances, made of stone, capture the eye with their aristocratic elegance.

A stone path surrounds the house in a picturesque way. An astonishing old olive press with round stones is located in the sitting area, on the ground floor, which also has a chimney. Extremely atmospheric and very Mediterranean this sitting area also has traditional, very old furniture, called “comoda” where the bed linen used to be kept in old times.

On the ground floor there are two twin guest bedrooms with cupboards and a main bedroom with double bed and cupboard as well. All the three bedrooms have French windows that allow the sunlight to enter lusciously. There are two bathrooms with shower, as well.

A very beautiful external stone stairway leads to the first floor. Magnificent views through the trees offer a panorama of the Ionian sea as far as Albania and the distant Greek mainland. There is an entrance and sitting area with chimney and five balconies, all with views to the surrounding Corfiot nature, satisfying even the most demanding taste.

There are two twin bedrooms and two bathrooms with bath/shower. The main bedroom with its double bed and full “in wall” cupboard has also its own bath with round luxurious shower cubicle and French windows as well. At the main bedroom's balcony a very pretty “breakfast corner” completes the perfect setting. All the ceilings of the house are wooden and traditional and of exceptional taste.

The property is ideal for a family of six or more persons and their guests and one of the very few villas in the area where a beautiful garden party can be held. (Ideal for birthday or Wedding receptions)
